Alex, founder of Shore Success Academic Coaching

Hi, I'm Alex.

I'm a coach, a manager, and someone who has spent a lot of time helping people figure out how to manage more than feels manageable.

Shore Success grew out of something I kept seeing in both college students and professionals: being capable of doing the work and knowing how to manage all of it are two very different skills.

I've Been Doing This Longer Than I've Called It Academic Coaching.

When I coached collegiate rowing, coaching didn't stop when practice ended.

I worked with students who were balancing classes, exams, papers, projects, practices, jobs, and everything else that comes with being in college. I'd ask how grades were going, what exams were coming up, what projects were looming, and where things were starting to get away from them.

Sometimes what a student needed wasn't help understanding the material. They needed someone to help them step back, see the whole picture, and figure out what needed to happen next.

That's a big part of what Shore Success is built around.

Then I Built a Career Around Managing Complexity.

My professional career has taken me through operations, analytics, program management, and leadership roles where I've been responsible for complicated projects, competing deadlines, and teams of people trying to keep all the moving pieces moving.

And as I moved into management, my job increasingly became something else: helping other people learn to manage their own work.

Not doing it for them. Not hovering over them. Giving them the structure, tools, and accountability to own it themselves.

That's the same philosophy I bring to coaching.

What I Want for Your Student

I don't want to become another person telling them what to do.
I want to help them get better at knowing what to do next.

That means learning to look ahead, make realistic plans, recognize when something is slipping, adjust when life gets in the way, and follow through without needing someone else to manage every step.

Shore Success is support for independence, not a substitute for it.
