Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers about how Shore Success works.

Is this tutoring?

No. Shore Success is academic coaching, not subject-specific tutoring. I help students manage the bigger picture: assignments, deadlines, exams, competing priorities, and the week-to-week decisions that determine whether everything actually gets done.

What happens during coaching sessions?

We look at what's coming up, what needs attention now, and what might become a problem if it gets ignored. Together, we build a realistic plan for the days ahead, break larger assignments into manageable steps, prepare for exams and deadlines, and adjust when college inevitably throws something unexpected into the mix.

How often will my student meet with you?

Students meet with me twice each week throughout the semester. That cadence is intentional: it provides enough structure and accountability to keep things moving without requiring students to check in every day.

What if my student is already behind?

That's okay. We start with where they actually are, not where they were supposed to be. We'll identify what can still be recovered, prioritize what matters most, and build a plan for moving forward without letting one difficult week become an entire difficult semester.

How involved are parents?

The goal is for you to stop having to manage college for them. I work directly with the student on the day-to-day academic planning and accountability. Parents can step out of the role of constantly asking about assignments, deadlines, and exams while still knowing their student has consistent support.

Why can't my student just use an AI tool, planner, or calendar?

Those can all be useful tools. The hard part usually isn't knowing that a deadline exists — it's deciding what to do today, recognizing when a plan is falling apart, adjusting when priorities change, and having someone notice when something keeps getting pushed to tomorrow. A tool can organize information. Coaching adds judgment, accountability, and a real person paying attention.

What if I'm not sure this is right for my student?

That's exactly what the free 15-minute consultation is for. We'll talk about what your student is struggling with, what kind of support would actually help, and whether Shore Success makes sense for them. If it doesn't, I'll tell you.
